Local SEO: Two Steps to Ensure Inclusion on Google

By Nick Bilava, Storage.com

There may be nothing more frustrating for a storage facility than to not be found in local searches on search engines such as Google. You have a website, add content to it, and you’re active on different social media platforms, all in an effort to get more people to notice your facility, yet people still aren’t finding you in local search. Luckily, the process of getting found by Google in local searches is easier than you may think.

There are a two main options your facility can choose to do that will improve your website’s local SEO and begin to make it easier for Google to find and list your location.

Add Facility Name, Address, Phone Number Across Your Website

One of the easiest ways to get your name, address, and phone number (NAP) to show up more often to Google is to add that information to the footer of your website. By doing this, you will ensure that the information shows up across your website, on each page. The more pages you have on your website, the more pages that Google will find, and ultimately, the more chances that your NAP information may get listed by Google earlier in search results.

Sign Up with Google My Business

In 2014, Google combined two old programs to form Google My Business. The program, which runs through Google+, gives storage facilities and many other businesses the chance to literally give Google your facility’s information.

When you sign up, you have the ability to add your facility’s NAP information along with your website’s URL, among other pieces of information. It’s important to add your NAP and URL to Google My Business because this information will be fed directly into Google search. When a consumer searches for your facility, the information that you added to your Google My Business account will show up directly on the search result page.

Keep in mind, using both of these options will not ensure that your facility gets a first page ranking. What using these will do is set your facility on the right path towards gaining ground in the overall search engine ranking of your website and facility. You need to begin adding your local information to other online directories to help your NAP and URL information show up in many places online. The more Google can find this information, the more chance you have to move up in the search engine rankings.
