Bluebird Self Storage Builds Facilities Across New Hampshire

After cutting the ribbon on a self storage facility in Rochester, N.H., in January 2016, the New Hampshire Union Leader reports that Bluebird Self Storage has new facilities in development in Manchester, Bedford, and Hooksett.

The four locations will add about 2,500 units to Bluebird Self Storage’s portfolio and cost more than $20 million to build. Bill Goodison, Managing Director of Bluebird Storage LLC, which owns both Greenland Self Storage and Bluebird Self Storage, said it’s a great time to be making investments. “Occupancy rates are pretty high for all storage unit facilities in New Hampshire,” he told the New Hampshire Union Leader.

Goodison added that many people in New Hampshire need extra space for life events like preparing a house to sell or “downsizing to something smaller and needing to keep their stuff somewhere.”

“We’re hoarders by nature,” Katie Russell, President of the New Hampshire Self Storage Association (NHSSA), told the daily newspaper. “Storage is booming right now. I would attribute it to a real good housing market at this time.” Russell is also the co-owner of Budget Storage in Brentwood and says her 400-plus unit facility is full. She even has 20 people on a waiting list for unit rentals.

Bluebird Self Storage’s facility in Rochester at 201 Highland St. offers 526 climate-controlled storage units and drive-in loading bays. The Manchester facility under construction will be three stories tall and feature 750 climate-controlled units. It’s set to open in November 2016 at Brown Avenue and Queen City Avenue. In Spring 2017, Bluebird Self Storage hopes to open its 700-unit facility in Bedford on South River Road, along with its 550-unit location on Route 3 in Hooksett.

The amenities offered at Bluebird Self Storage locations include online rentals, clean units, on-site management, video surveillance, and gated security. The company also offers a mobile app that allows users to rent units, update payment information, get driving directions, and even make phone calls with a simple tap of a button.

The Bluebird Self Storage website even features a special offer to pick up renters’ items for free with its moving truck, as long as the customer is within a ten-mile radius. The offer is good for a unit up to a 10×10 (i.e., 100 square feet).
