Compass Self Storage, part of Amsdell Companies, is celebrating a new landmark. The company recently acquired a storage facility at 6307 Licking Pike in Cold Spring, Ky. This marks Compass Self Storage’s 70th facility in its portfolio across the U.S.
Located at AA Highway and State Route 915 in Cold Spring, the newest facility has 65,000 rentable square feet of storage. Amenities include drive-up and climate-controlled storage units, electronic access, online payments, truck rentals, packing supplies, and the business will also offer a smartphone app allowing renters to access a security gate with a mobile device.
“The addition of this self storage property will allow us to further expand in the greater Cincinnati market and offer a convenient, one-stop shop for the moving and storage needs for the residents and businesses in this area,” says Todd Amsdell, President of Compass Self Storage.
The 70-property milestone for Compass Self Storage comes after a long string of successes over recent years. With nearly a dozen acquisitions in 2015, and already nine this year, the company is growing fast.
Amsdell says the reason behind the momentum is that the company has carefully chosen the locations for the portfolio and has worked alone as well. He says they have more freedom to creatively look at potential investments when only spending the company’s money.
Amsdell Companies is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. It started with a family-owned construction company in 1928 and has since invested several billion dollars into different real estate ventures, focusing on self storage. Amsdell Companies has owned and operated more than 500 storage facilities under different names in 27 states.
Compass Self Storage now owns facilities in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, and Texas.
