Are Local Listings Hurting Your Storage Facility?

With many people using local listings to find businesses in their area today, it’s important to make sure your storage facility’s listings are accurate. Why? Well, if you have outdated local listings or potential customers can’t find your facility’s information anywhere online, they’ll take their business to a storage facility that seems more trustworthy (that is, a facility that keeps their information visible and up-to-date).

In a recent survey, Placeable, a local data and marketing platform provider, revealed just how damaging it can be for your business to have incorrect or outdated local listings. The provider also discovered just how often a “regular consumer” uses search engines to find local businesses.

  • 56% find a retailer
  • 51% find a restaurant
  • 25% find a bank ATM

It’s believed that these numbers will only grow with the increasing popularity of mobile search (through smartphones and tablets).

Since there are so many consumers using search engines to find local businesses, it’s even more crucial for your storage facility to have accurate local listings—otherwise, you could risk losing the trust of potential customers. In fact, of those “regular consumers” surveyed in Placeable’s study:

  • 73% lose trust in a business when listings are incorrect
  • 67% lose trust in a business when they get lost because of incorrect location information

If this study hasn’t been clear enough, let us break it down for you…

Local listings are extremely important, and if you’re not updating them regularly or using consistent information across all local listing directories, then you will have a harder time reeling in new storage renters.
