Beltmann Relocation Group Purchases SMARTBOX Franchise in Minneapolis
Belmann Relocation Group, one of North American Van Lines’ largest agents, has acquired the Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul area’s SMARTBOX licensed location. Headquartered in Minneapolis, Beltmann Relocation Group has almost 60 years of profitability as an industry leader in household goods hauling fleets.
“We are excited to expand our service offerings through the addition of portable storage,” says Marc Van Kley, President of Beltmann Relocation Group. “Over the last several years, we have seen how portable storage has become a cost-effective way for customers to stage their home in advance of moving, store their belongings during remodeling projects, or store their possessions between moves. It is a perfect complement to our existing suite of moving services.”
The storage units of SMARTBOX are constructed out of wood and covered with weather-tight vinyl to help with climate control and provide weather protection. Units have a maximum limit of 3,000 pounds, standing seven feet tall, five feet wide, and eight feet long.
“The beauty is that we simplify the moving and storage process while providing an affordable and convenient solution for the consumer,” says Dusty Rhodes, Vice President and General Manager of SMARTBOX. “We are excited to have the Beltmann team, with nearly 60 years experience in moving, as a new licensee to serve the Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area.”

Self Storage Facility to Be Built in Lewisboro, New York
After he gave his first proposal in 2011, Steve Kaplan’s request to build a self storage facility in Lewisboro, N.Y., finally has a solid timeline in sight. Kaplan plans for the facility to be built across from West Road on Route 123, and the proposal is in its last rounds of being approved by the Lewisboro Building Department. The project would consist of constructing three separate buildings, which will make up a total of 6,620 square feet.
“Everything is in order,” explains Kaplan. “My goal is to start the work as soon as possible.” Kaplan adds that he hopes for the project to be completed by spring.
Kaplan ran into a minor setback and is currently in the process of getting the required permit up-to-date in order to construct an entrance to the facility off of Route 123.
“I just have to get the highway permit issued from the state DOT, and then I bring that in to Mr. [Peter] Barrett [town building inspector] and then he should issue my permit,” he says. “I have to do everything by November 2015. I have to finish one way or the other.”
