Among the Miami Metropolitan Area, though roughly an hour’s drive north of Miami itself, is the city of Lake Worth, FL. Being a part of this sprawling metro, which is home to more than 6,100,000 residents, it can be easy to get lost in the mix. But it would be a mistake to look over any city in this area.
With that being said, here are four things you can only find in Lake Worth, FL.
1. Hit the beach in Lake Worth
Can you write any list involving a Florida coast town and not mention the beach? Thankfully, Lake Worth Beach Park does not let down its residents and visitors. While there is a cost for parking up close to the beach, about $6 for two hours, you can park a little farther for a little cheaper.
Anyway, this beach is loved for its beautiful views and clean water, offering some memorable sights including a must-see sunrise on the east coast.
2. The Lake Worth Pier
The current pier has been open since 2009, though the location has been enjoyed by anglers in the area since 1960. More than 200,000 people visit this post each year, whether it’s to enjoy the thrill of catching anything from big jacks to kingfish or to take a stroll along the pier. There is a cost to get in—$1 for walkers, $3 for fishers—but the pier does accept credit card as payment.
While there, checkout Benny’s On The Beach, a restaurant that offers anything from fried fish to breakfast with boardwalk seating available. And if they have the Key Lime pie, order the Key Lime pie.
3. These Lake Worth restaurants
While there are certainly a number of great places to checkout in the entire Miami Metro, let’s not forget that this list focuses solely on Lake Worth, which definitely offers a variety of flavor options for you to enjoy.
For example, checkout Lilo’s Street Food & Bar where you have to try their brunch menu or at the very least visit on Taco Tuesday. For something more Mediterranean, try out Sofra, where you really can’t go wrong with anything from their falafel to their chicken kabobs.
4. LGTBQ Pride
A cultural aspect that is growing in importance for many, it’s worth noting that Palm Beach County’s annual Gay Pride Parade is held in Lake Worth, which is also home to the county’s only LGTB center, Compass.
The Compass Center is one of the largest community centers of its kind both in Florida and the Southeast United States, serving more than 25,000 people a year in the 14,000 square-foot facility.
