Located in the Inland Empire metropolitan area just east of Los Angeles, Riverside is one of the many cities nestled in this amazing community. But with 15 cities in this metro to chose from, how do you know Riverside may be the place to live? Well, here are six quick things that show how amazing this community is.

1. Cost of living is better in Riverside

Relative to the state of California, Riverside offers an affordable cost of living, especially in areas such as health and groceries. And while it may seem high compared to the national average, the median home cost in Riverside is more than $140,000 cheaper than California’s state average.

2. The Riverside communities

With that relatively low cost of housing comes the chance for people to actually own their homes and set up communities. With more than 25 distinct neighborhoods and other areas to explore, the city of Riverside takes great pride in its diversified options, being one city of many parts. You can checkout more on the neighborhoods with this helpful Riverside neighborhood map.

3. The Van Buren Drive In

Home to one of the last drive-in theatres in California, the Van Buren offers nightly movies to view from your vehicle, as well as a swap meet during the certain days of the week. So whether your want a nostalgic night at the movies, a family night on the tailgate, or even a romantic getaway, Riverside has you covered with this one-stop shop.

4. Riverside location is key

Sometimes, you want to get out of town, thankfully, Riverside is close to many top attractions in California. Disneyland is only a 45-minute drive, San Diego is about an hour and a half, drive, and there are many beaches within that time frame too. You can even hit the slopes of Big Bear during the winter months with only an hour’s drive away.

5. Castle Park for when you want to stay in Riverside

And if you need an attraction within the city, well, Castle Park doesn’t fail. This 25-acre park has rides fit from the whole family, from their new rocking Tug Boat experience to the tried and true scrambler for the kids. You should also check out the Sky Rider to enjoy some amazing, 360-degree views from 80 feet up in the air.

6. The outdoors are great in Riverside

Aside from the amazing climate you’ll enjoy in Riverside, the city offers some great spots to actually be outside and enjoy it. Checkout spots such as the UC Riverside Botanic Garden, which hosts more than 200 bird species, to the incredibly peaceful Whitewater Preserve with all day hiking.

Now this is just a relatively short list of all the great things Riverside has to offer, and if there is anything you’d like to add to it please let us know in the comments below! In the meantime, while we know Riverside is relatively affordable, housing can still come at a higher cost versus the rest of the country.
